Shelter043 is temporarily relocating from Statensingel to Dokter van Kleefstraat 29. The shelter for homeless people will remain here until the new building on Severenstraat is ready, which will take at least two years. LEVANTOgroep is responsible for the shelter.
The building at Dokter van Kleefstraat has space for 20 people. People no longer have to sleep in dormitories. There will be single and double rooms, providing more peace and privacy. There is also more space for confidential conversations. This was not possible at the current location on Statensingel. Previously, the Impuls shelter was located in the building at Dokter van Kleefstraat. Since it moved, the building has been empty.
No permanent location
Despite the improvements, Dokter van Kleefstraat is not a suitable permanent location. The building does not have enough space for independent single rooms and daytime activities on site. These facilities will be available in the new building on Severenstraat. If all goes according to plan, that location will be ready by early 2028.
Information for the neighborhood
On December 1, a meeting was held with the Brussels Gate Neighborhood Network about the relocation. Neighbors received a letter on December 8 and were invited to a meeting on December 15. There, the municipality and LEVANTOgroep will explain the relocation and the support at the location. Residents can also ask questions.
