Since September 9, some residents of Heer can apply for subsidies for measures to prevent water from entering their homes. They can receive funding for waterproof cellar hatches or water-resistant barriers. This is a trial. Based on the results, we will see if the scheme will also be implemented in other parts of the city in the future.
Area Heer under Church
People living in the area Heer under Church can apply for subsidies. In this part of the neighborhood, it is common for water to stand on the ground floor of homes. Those who qualify received a letter in early September with more information about the subsidy.
Subsidy Amount
The municipality reimburses 90% of the costs incurred by individuals for the measure. There is a maximum of 3,500 euros per home.
Examples of Measures
These include measures such as:
- water-resistant barriers for doors or garages. These are sturdy plates that are placed in front of a door.
- raised thresholds or sills
- waterproof cellar hatches or ventilation grilles
- other measures that keep rainwater outside. On the website https://wachtnietopwater.nl/hulpmiddelen, there are more examples in the brochure Protecting your home better against water damage.
More Information
More information about the subsidy can be found at https://subsidies.gemeentemaastricht.nl/subsidie-aanvragen. The scheme runs until December 31, 2027, or until the budget is exhausted.
