Housing, offices, small-scale hospitality, student accommodation, and neighborhood functions. Under this program encapsulated in a Masterplan, the Municipality of Maastricht and developer POM Vikingsite BV signed today. “This development within Maastricht Center-East fits within our ambition for qualitative growth,” said Alderman for Urban Development Frans Bastiaens.
Stations Quarter
The Vikingsite is commonly known as the former KPN site. The area on the Groene Loper, together with the project development ‘Mosaïek’, forms the ‘Stations Quarter’ within the broader area vision for the Spoorzone. This quarter will develop into a lively, mixed urban district with space for business and high-quality services, euregional institutions, and innovation. The Vikingsite Masterplan fits well within the principles of this vision.
Specifically, 300 homes, 43 student rooms, and an underground parking garage will be built. Additionally, there is space for commercial functions, including offices and ‘workspace as a service’ - where physical workplaces can be rented as a service – with shared facilities. The area also provides room for small-scale hospitality and neighborhood amenities.
