Many parents only think about toilet training when their child is nearly 4. This is a problem as children need to learn to use the toilet on time. Otherwise, they cannot start primary school. This leads to unnecessary delays.
A free training
In all municipalities in South Limburg, the Plasklas is now offered. Also in the municipality of Maastricht. This training (as it is not a real class) helps parents with toilet training their child. Without pressure or stress. Parents work at their own pace at home. The Plasklas is free.
During a visit to the consultation office, the nurse points out to parents that children from 1.5 to 2 years old are ready to practice. The childcare also informs parents about the existence of the Plasklas. More information about the training can be found on the website of the GGD Zuid-Limburg.
Benefits of toilet training
Toilet training is an important milestone in a childs development. The benefits are:
- it saves 1,800 diapers per child per year
- it saves 600 euros in diaper costs
- it results in 540 kilograms less residual waste per child per year.
Rd4 measures diaper waste separately to show whether awareness and help actually lead to less residual waste.
The Plasklas is made possible by the 16 municipalities in South Limburg, childcare organizations, waste collector Rd4, the Province of Limburg, Trendbreuk, and GGD Zuid-Limburg (Youth Health Care).
