From Friday, December 19 at 8:00 PM until Monday, December 22 at 5:00 AM, the A15 near the Valburg interchange and the Tielsestraat over the Elshout viaduct will be closed. This affects traffic.
What does this mean for you?
- A15 closed: the A15 highway is closed in both directions between the Valburg and Grijsoord interchanges.
- Tielsestraat closed: the Tielsestraat, over the Elshout viaduct, is closed this weekend for cars and bicycles.
- Detours: follow the detour signs along the road. Allow extra travel time.
Why are these closures needed?
Rijkswaterstaat is conducting research at the Elshout viaduct. This is necessary because the viaduct is no longer safe enough for heavy traffic. Therefore, trucks heavier than 30 tons are no longer allowed to cross the viaduct.
Initial investigations started in early December. Since then, only one lane has been in use for traffic on the Tielsestraat over the viaduct Elshout.
The closures this weekend are necessary to conduct further research and to determine which measures may be needed to keep the viaduct safe for all traffic.
How are you detoured?
Follow the signs for the detour route. Cyclists between Valburg and Herveld are detoured via Zeegstraat and Onderstalstraat. For more information, visit A15: closure at Valburg interchange; December 19 - 22, 2025. For questions, please contact Rijkswaterstaat.
