In 2024, there were 26,230 jobs in Overbetuwe. Employment in Overbetuwe has increased by 1,080 jobs compared to 2023, an increase of 4.3%. The growth in employment is higher than the average annual growth of employment in the period 2015-2024.
In Elst, there were 11,880 jobs. This is 45% of the total employment in Overbetuwe. In Heteren, there were 4,500 jobs (17%) and in Oosterhout 2,950 (11%).
The establishments on the business parks represent 51% of employment in Overbetuwe. The growth of employment in the business parks (5.9%) is higher than the average growth of employment in Overbetuwe (4.3%). This underscores the great importance of the business parks for local employment.

Growth of the healthcare sector
In 2024, the growth of employment was distributed across various sectors. The healthcare sector experienced the largest growth with nearly 400 additional jobs. This increase is mainly due to the arrival of Rijnstate and the laboratory Dicoon in Elst. This growth supports the regional and municipal ambition to stimulate the establishment of health companies around Elst station and business park De Aam.
Establishments
In 2024, Overbetuwe had 5,650 establishments. This is 370 more than in 2023, a growth of 7%. The growth in the number of establishments is higher than the average annual growth of the number of establishments in the period 2015-2024.
