The municipal executive board decided on November 11 on the preferred route for the new cycling connection along the Linge. This marks the start of the design phase for the approximately 11-kilometer-long Lingefietspad between the A325 near Elst and Wageningsestraat in Zetten. The route is part of a broader landscape development focusing on water, nature, and recreation.
Next Steps
A detailed design is now being made for each section of the route. The municipality will discuss this with landowners, tenants, and interest groups. Legal assessments will also be carried out and subsidies applied for.
Planning
- In December, we will start with section G (bike street 2e Weteringsewal – Logtsestraat – Tobbenhofsestraat).
- The execution of section G is planned for 2026, depending on utility companies.
- Sections D, E, and F will follow.
- The ambition is to complete the entire route by 2030.
Costs
The total investment for the Lingefietspad and related opportunities amounts to €26.5 million. Implementation will be phased, depending on subsidies and financing.
