On January 27, 2026, the municipal council approved several changes to advertising regulations. The adjustments for sandwich boards and digital information pillars provide more space for social initiatives and entrepreneur collectives in Overbetuwe. Below you will find the main changes summarized.

Sandwich and Event Boards

Sandwich and event boards along the road are now also allowed for:

  • Announcements of local social initiatives;
  • Regional social initiatives in which the municipality of Overbetuwe participates.

The boards can, as before, also be used for local non-commercial events.

Would you like to share a non-commercial message on a sandwich board in public space?
For more information, see the advertising permit.

Digital Information Pillars

Digital information pillars are intended to inform residents and visitors. Social and/or entrepreneur collectives from Overbetuwe can apply for a permit to realize a digital information pillar. Important rules:

  • Placement is only possible at access roads to shopping areas or within the shopping area;
  • If a village has no shopping area, placement within the built-up area is allowed;
  • Placement in rural areas or industrial sites is not permitted;
  • Only one permit per village core is possible; an exception applies for Elst: there are a maximum of two pillars allowed there.

Digital information pillars are already present in Driel, Elst, and Heteren.
