Starting in September, researchers from GRAS Advies, commissioned by the Municipality of Overbetuwe, will conduct research on bats. They are mainly active in the evening and at night. You can recognize the researchers by their orange vests, flashlights, and recording equipment. The researchers move through the neighborhoods by bike.

Why this research?

The municipality is creating a species management plan (SMP). This plan outlines where protected animals such as bats live.

  • This helps us better protect these animals.
  • At the same time, it makes it easier and cheaper for residents to insulate their homes.

Normally, each household has to conduct its own research. With this plan, we arrange that all at once for the entire municipality. This saves time, money, and effort.

Double benefit

Councilor Rik van den Dam, responsible for sustainability and nature:
With this research, we ensure that residents can better insulate their homes and that nature in our municipality is preserved.

More information

We will use the results of the research to establish guidelines for construction and insulation projects. This way, we work together towards a sustainable future where nature and development go hand in hand.
