On Saturday, Deputy Mayor Wijnte Hol, on behalf of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, presented an Orange Pennant to the Orange Association Zetten-Hemmen. The presentation took place during the childrens games afternoon at the Hendrik Pierson College (HPC) in Zetten, organized by the Orange Association.
Royal Recognition for 100 Years of Service
In honor of the 100th anniversary, the board of the Orange Association Zetten-Hemmen submitted a request for the awarding of an Orange Pennant. The Royal House honored this request and asked the municipality of Overbetuwe to carry out the presentation. At the request of the association, the presentation took place during the festive childrens games afternoon, which was also opened by Deputy Mayor Hol.
About the Orange Pennant
The Orange Pennant is awarded to individuals, companies, and associations that make a special contribution to Dutch society. The Orange Pennant for Orange Associations was established in 1987 on the occasion of the 50th wedding anniversary of Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard. Based on an inventory, Orange Pennants were awarded to Orange Associations at that time. Orange Associations that, based on that inventory, do not possess the Orange Pennant can submit a request for it on the occasion of a 50-, 75-, and 100-year anniversary and beyond.
The embroidery on the pennant refers to the wedding anniversary of Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard and serves as a lasting memory.
