Turning 18 is a special milestone. That is why young people in Overbetuwe receive a personal card from the municipality around their 18th birthday. The card features a QR code linking to the webpage Turning 18, with important information about health insurance, student finance, DigiD, and voting.

Next year, 637 young people will receive this card. The idea and topics were developed together with Overbetuwe youth during a meeting at the town hall. This way, young people (and their parents) know what changes and what needs to be arranged.

Mayor Patricia Hoytink-Roubos: Turning 18 is a festive moment and the beginning of new responsibilities. We hope this card helps to take that step with confidence. Alderman Chantal Teunissen: We notice that some young people only discover later what they should have arranged. With this card, we want to prevent that. By providing timely overview and support, we reduce the chance of debts, fines, or other worries.
