Waste collection may take longer due to snow

Slippery conditions are causing waste to be collected more slowly. This may continue throughout this entire week due to severe winter weather. The municipality is doing its best to empty waste containers in the city as quickly as possible according to the normal schedule. 

Why is this happening? The people who collect the waste are also the ones who spread grit, sweep, and do other tasks to keep roads free of snow. With the current winter weather, fighting slipperiness takes priority over waste collection. 

You can help keep streets clean. Read below how. In general: if a container is full, do not put waste next to it, but go to another container. Or keep your waste at home a little longer until the container is emptied.

For household containers 

It may happen that our vehicles cannot enter a street that is too slippery. 

If your household container is not emptied, please put it back. Then we can empty the container in 2 weeks. We ask for your understanding.

For neighborhood containers

Neighborhood containers for residual waste, paper and cardboard, glass and textiles are emptied as much as possible. Due to slipperiness, it may happen that we cannot reach certain containers. 

For bulky waste

Bulky waste appointments that have already been made will continue. It may happen that we cannot reach bulky waste in slippery, narrow streets. 

If your bulky waste has not been collected, we have not forgotten you. As soon as possible, we will come to collect your bulky waste.

Waste next to containers

Waste placed next to the container is removed from the street as much as possible. It may take longer than you are used to.

Grit salt

The environmental parks are open according to normal opening hours. At environmental parks, you can pick up grit salt for free. You can also pick up grit salt at several locations of neighborhood cleaning teams (WRT locations).
