The registration process for the neighborhood and village council elections on March 18 is well underway. So far, 297 Rotterdammers have registered to commit themselves to their neighborhood as a neighborhood or village council member. Alderman Simons also calls on other Rotterdammers to register.

There are 262 registrations on a personal title and 35 registrations (spread over 9 lists) from people who want to participate collectively in the elections. It is expected that political parties will submit their candidate lists in the coming days, which will further increase the number of candidates.

Call: Rotterdammer, register too!

District alderman Robert Simons: I am proud of the 297 Rotterdammers who have already responded to our call to commit themselves to their neighborhood or village. They show that involvement lives in the city and that residents want to make a difference for their immediate living environment. The neighborhood and village councils are the place where ideas, concerns and ambitions of residents come together and are turned into action. I call on all Rotterdammers with heart for their neighborhood to follow this example.

Compensation and conditions

Each neighborhood or village council member receives a compensation of €600 gross per month. There are 3 conditions if you want to register: you must be at least 16 years old on March 18, 2026, you must live in the neighborhood for which you are a candidate and you must not work for the Municipality of Rotterdam.

More information about the neighborhood councils can be read on the page Rotterdam.nl/wijkraden.
