What does artificial intelligence have to do with football? How do you protect yourself against internet criminals? Students will learn all of this at Dream Space in Rotterdam-South.
At Molenvliet in the Lombardijen district, children learn about technology in a fun way. They learn critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and programming. This way, they creatively get acquainted with the digital world and artificial intelligence.
Workshops
Students can participate in various workshops at Dream Space. They discover, for example, how artificial intelligence improves the performance of football players. Or they create their own football game. They also learn how to surf the internet safely. The interactive workshops also teach students other important skills such as teamwork, creative thinking, and problem-solving.
The goal is for thousands of children to participate in the workshops each year. With this, Dream Space hopes to spark more interest in this field, especially among girls, as they are currently underrepresented in technology.
Collaboration
Dream Space is an initiative of Microsoft, Feyenoord, and the municipality of Rotterdam. On June 18, 2024, the collaboration between these parties began. Their goal: to make children from Rotterdam digitally stronger.
On May 22, 2025, the location of Dream Space at Molenvliet was officially opened. The goal for this year is for a class to visit every school day. This means that around 3000 students will visit Dream Space this year.
