Do you have a question for the municipality? Then step into a Neighborhood Hub. At the location on Sint-Agathastraat (Liskwartier, Rotterdam-Noord), May and Mihri are ready to help or advise you on Mondays and Wednesdays. ‘People almost always leave here happy,’ they say.

May and Mihri work for 14 010, the municipalitys phone number. People can call this number if they have a question or want to report something. ‘But,’ Mihri knows, ‘some people find it difficult to call. For them, its nice that they can just go somewhere.’

Thats why staff from 14 010 can also be found in some Neighborhood Hubs in Rotterdam, like the municipal office at Sint-Agathastraat 56. Residents can walk in every Monday and Wednesday between 10:00 and 14:00 to ask questions to May or Mihri.

Various Topics

These questions can be about anything, from bulky waste collection to requesting aids or arranging household help. The variety is what May loves most about the job. ‘Every day at 14 010, I get questions Ive never had before. I think: oh, this is possible too, something new learned.’

Of course, 14 010 staff dont know all municipal information by heart. To answer residents questions, they use a large digital knowledge base called RoWiki. ‘Its like an encyclopedia thats constantly updated. We find our answers in it.’

Relief

Sometimes people dont have a specific question but just want to know what options are available. ‘Sometimes people dont know where to start with their request for help, so its nice that we can think along and explain what possibilities exist.’

And residents appreciate that. ‘People almost always leave here happy. Sometimes you notice real relief because someone has apparently been carrying something for a long time. Its great that we could help.’

Moreover, May also thinks its good that the municipality is becoming more personable. She laughs, ‘This way, residents see that we civil servants are also just people, not robots.’
