“Economy is about people. This strategy is therefore about everyone who contributes to the economic path towards broad prosperity, in whatever form. It describes how we, as a municipality, work towards this, no longer facilitating but actively connecting and, where necessary, taking charge,” according to Alderman Bas van der Pol (urban development and economy).
Core Elements of the Strategy
In the economic path towards broad prosperity, 3 interconnected elements are central. First, we focus on a strong location and entrepreneurial climate. Second, we encourage businesses to operate more sustainably, digitally, and inclusively. Finally, we drive mission-oriented innovations. Key success factors for realizing this strategy include talent development, sufficient physical space (including energy and water), and effective collaboration at various levels.
Next Steps
Now that the strategy has been approved by the municipal council, the municipality will start developing an implementation agenda. We do not create this agenda alone, but precisely together with entrepreneurs and partner organizations. In the first implementation agenda, we will determine which priorities the municipality will focus on in the coming three years.
