Victims can share their concerns here and receive immediate assistance. Even if you are worried about someone else or have doubts, you will receive appropriate help and support at Filomena.
Violence has no place at home. Yet, the number of reports of child abuse, (ex-)partner violence, and elder abuse has increased in recent years. In 2023, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), there were nearly 3,800 reports of domestic violence in the Hart van Brabant region. A large part of domestic violence and child abuse occurs behind closed doors and goes unreported. As a result, these victims remain under the radar and do not receive the proper help. Filomena aims to make the step towards help more accessible for residents.
What is Filomena?
Filomena is there for anyone dealing with physical, psychological, and/or sexual violence from a (ex-)partner or someone in the family or acquaintances. At Filomena, you can walk in without an appointment, share your concerns, and receive help. It is a safe and warm place where the right people are ready to assist. At Filomena, caregivers work together with experts by experience who have themselves experienced domestic violence. They listen to you, discuss what you need together, and help you. Without judgment. Without an appointment.

Why Filomena?
Peter Kok (alderman for care, support, and health): “Violence still occurs behind closed doors. The circumstances make it difficult for many people to seek help. Because they love someone, because they are ashamed, afraid, or because they do not know where help is available. That is why we are opening Filomena for our residents. A place where you can just walk in, call, or check the website for help to break the cycle of violence. All parties that can play a role in breaking violence situations and creating safety work together here and respond to what the victim indicates they need. Besides that, I would like to ask everyone to reach out, ask how the other person is doing. Are you worried about someone? On the Filomena website, you will find tips on how to start that conversation. Sometimes that is enough for the victim to take the step towards help.”
