In recent months, it has been investigated what caused the cracks to appear. Unfortunately, the exact cause is difficult to determine, but that does not change the fact that these cracks need to be repaired.
Work
Contractor Gebr. Van Kessel Wegenbouw will carry out part of the repair work on the roadway. This concerns the part of the Stadsforum, near the concert hall and the exit to Oude Markt. The work involves removing the stones and part of the foundation. Then, the leveling material and the stones will be laid with a new cement mixture.
Schedule
The work itself will take about 1 week. After that, the cement mixture needs to dry and cure for about 4 weeks. This means that during this period, no traffic should be allowed on the roadway.
Traffic
A part of the roadway will be unavailable for use until mid-November due to the work. During this period, vehicle traffic will be redirected via a temporary bypass over the Stadsforum. The deployment of traffic controllers for the flow of pedestrians and cars on Saturdays during the market will remain unchanged.
