One of the first changes is the relocation of student hockey club SHOT to the location of hockey club Tilburg (HCT). The municipality will enter into an agreement with HCT to keep two fields available. The relocation of SHOT is scheduled for the summer of 2026.
Sustainable renovation of the sports center
Tilburg University will sustainably renovate and possibly expand the sports center on Academielaan. There will also be space for outdoor sports on and around this location. These plans will be further developed in the urban planning plan for the Reitse Campus, the area between Ringbaan West and Academielaan, where educational institutions such as Theresialyceum and Avans are located.
Space for living and sports
The relocation of SHOT will free up the current hockey fields on the Reitse Campus. This will create space to develop this area. In the short term, the first 1000 homes can be built here, including student housing. At the same time, there will still be space for outdoor sports, so that schools and other users can continue to make use of it.
Knowledge Quarter
This development around the Reitse Campus is part of the Knowledge Quarter, the area between Ringbaan-West, Professor Cobbenhagenlaan, Tilburg University campus, Stadsbos013, and Westermarkt. Much will change in the Knowledge Quarter. This includes the construction of approximately 7,500 new homes and the addition of work and service space. The area will be made more vibrant with more meeting places, greenery, and better facilities such as schools and shops. There will also be attention to a sustainable heat-cold network and better layout of public spaces.
