Our city center is thriving with development. With more space for greenery, socializing, and events, it’s more enjoyable than ever. We notice this from the many visitors, both from inside and outside the city.
Come Smart to the City
Avoid crowds by visiting on a weekday, Thursday evening (shopping night), or Saturday morning. Take your time for your visit and plan your route in advance with a nice walking or cycling route. This way, we spread out traffic congestion and keep the city center accessible for everyone who wants to be there.
Take the Bike
A bike is cheap, fast, and sustainable. Park your bike for free in one of the managed bike parking facilities in the city center. Via the fast bike routes, you are often faster than by car. Short visit? Then park your bike neatly in one of the blue bike racks. Check the opening hours of the parking facilities in advance. The opening hours are on the page Cycling in Tilburg.
Choose Public Transport
Public transport is also a great option. Plan your trip easily via 9292.nl. If you come by train, get off at Tilburg Station. Take your time for your visit, combine activities, and make it a fun (half) day. Through the cozy Dwaalgebied, you can walk straight to the city center. Prefer the bus? Then you get off right in the center.
Rent a Shared Scooter or Bike
Travel easily and sustainably from A to B. Discover where the new shared bikes from Lime and the shared scooters from Check can take you. Always park your bike or scooter neatly to prevent nuisance.
Still Coming by Car?
Avoid crowds by parking on the edges of the city center. Drive easily via Burgemeester Brokxlaan and park extra cheaply on December weekends in the Zwijsen parking garage. You park there for 5 euros per day. You don’t have to enter the Parkring, and from Zwijsen parking garage, it’s only a 10-minute walk to the shopping streets. Additionally, on Saturdays and Sundays in December between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., you can use the bike taxi for free between Zwijsen parking garage and the city center.
When is the 5 Euro Rate Valid in the Zwijsen Parking Garage?
On weekend days from Friday to Sunday in December.
So on: 5, 6, 7 / 12, 13, 14 / 19, 20, 21 / 22, 23, 24 / 27 and 28 DecemberThree days before Christmas: Monday 22 to Wednesday 24 December
The 5 euro rate is valid for 24 hours from the time you enter the garage by car.
If you depend on the car and need to park close to the shops, choose Emmapassage, Heuvelpoort, Schouwburg, Pieter Vreedeplein, or Koningsplein.
Additional Measures
On the busiest days, the municipality deploys extra traffic controllers at the roundabout of Pieter Vreedeplein. Additionally, text boards with current travel advice are placed along the access roads. Together we keep the city center accessible.
Winter in Tilburg
On November 22, the winter period is festively kicked off from 12:00 to 16:00, including the opening of the winter garden at Pieter Vreedeplein, a scavenger hunt through the city center, street theater, live music, free gift wrapping service, workshops in our pop-up, face painting, and much more.
