The plan Witzy – Culture in the Reeshof states that the municipality wants to start a location study for the cultural center. Previously, the idea for a cultural center in the Reeshof was also included in the coalition agreement More for Each Other.
What will be built?
There will be two separate locations:
- Cultural center: a cozy place with a library, performance hall, cinema, hospitality, and space to meet each other.
- Studios: a workspace for creators, with rehearsal rooms, studios, and workshops. This may be located in part of the Heyhoef Library.
This way, people in the Reeshof can learn, create, present, and inspire each other close to home.
Why two locations?
Initially, it was considered whether everything could fit in one building, for example in the Heyhoef Community Center. But there is not enough space for all functions there. Therefore, two separate locations were chosen so that everything fits and works well.
What happens now?
The construction of the cultural center will not start in 2026. First, the municipality will conduct a location study. They will look at places in the Reeshofpark and around the Heyhoef shopping center. Consultations will also take place with residents and organizations from the district. To do something already, the municipality will start extra cultural activities in the Reeshof in 2026. This will be done together with local initiatives such as Backstage Bridges and Raisehof Collective.
With this plan, Tilburg aims to provide more culture, meeting places, and talent development in the Reeshof, for young and old. So the cultural center will not appear immediately, but preparations have begun.
