When you shop consciously, you throw away less food waste. First, check at home what you need and make a shopping list. This way, you ensure that you dont forget anything and buy exactly what you need. This is also good for your wallet.

Food waste often ends up in residual waste. That is a shame. Both for the food itself and because it is then burned. We understand that everyone sometimes has to throw away food waste. Did you know that food waste you can no longer keep belongs in the GFTe container? GFTe stands for vegetable, fruit, and garden waste and food scraps. We recycle GFTe waste into compost. This forms a nutrient base for new life. That is, of course, much better than burning.

Use biodegradable trash bags

Keep your container fresh by throwing your GFTe waste in biodegradable trash bags (with a seedling logo on it). These can be picked up for free at city shops, Mobile Recycling Street, community centers, and the waste station. In warmer weather, maggots and odors in the dual container can be prevented by placing Hedera (a type of ivy) in it, putting the container in the shade, and leaving the lid slightly open.

Did you know that…

If everyone in Tilburg does not waste food at home for a week... we save 147,960 kg of food, which is 295,920 meals. Will you join the Waste-Free Week? Together, we work towards a more sustainable Tilburg!

Dès Sund

Under the motto Sund dè ge-t weggooit, 013Food invites Tilburg residents to the kitchen table at Pieter Vreedeplein, on Thursday, September 11 from 4:00 PM. With Brabantine coziness, good conversations, and concrete actions, 013Food shows that wasting less pays off. The municipalitys resource coaches will also be ready with practical advice on waste separation and preventing waste. Play their interactive game and learn how to give leftovers from your fridge a new life. Read more about it on 013Food.nl.
