The Municipality of Tilburg investigated the condition of the transport sewer pipes at the Kraaiven industrial area (Swaardvenstraat and Grootvenstraat) and at IJpelareweg. It was found that these sewers are in poor condition.

This can lead to problems such as ground subsidence. Therefore, the municipality now regularly conducts inspections here and is making a plan to replace or renovate the sewer system.

Weekly Inspections and Measures

The municipality inspects weekly for subsidence under roads, driveways, green areas, and meadows. Measures have been taken in the industrial area, such as placing steel plates and closing parts of streets where sewer manholes are located. The sewer is regularly inspected internally with cameras for possible additional damage. When subsidence or damage is detected in the sewer, action is taken to secure the situation and ensure the sewer continues to function.

Work Schedule

In the near future, the municipality, together with consultancy firms and contractors, will make a plan to replace or renovate the sewer. Work at the Kraaiven industrial area is expected to start after the summer of 2026 and continue until early 2027. At IJpelareweg, work is expected to start at the end of 2026 and continue until 2028.
