At the next match between FC Utrecht and FC Twente, no away fans will be allowed in the Galgenwaard stadium. This decision was made by the municipality with support from the police and the Public Prosecution Service.
The municipality made this decision because serious disturbances were caused by FC Twente supporters during the match on January 13, 2026. Among other things, heavy fireworks were thrown from the away section towards FC Utrecht supporters. Supporters also broke through fences near the parking deck, and the presence of an FC Twente supporter in a home section caused unrest and fights, during which a steward was injured.
Given the seriousness of these incidents, the authorities consider it necessary to ban away supporters at the next match of the new season. The exact date of this match is not yet known.
