The municipality of Utrecht now offers organizers of city and community festivals and commemorations multi-year financial security. With this subsidy scheme, organizers can apply for funding for three years at once instead of annually.
Councilor Eva Oosters (Events): “With this adjustment, we want to ensure the continuity of important city festivals and commemorations. These events are free and accessible to everyone and play a significant role in the connectedness of the city. They bring Utrecht residents together to celebrate, commemorate, and meet each other.”
Until now, organizers had to apply for funding each year, which brought a lot of time and uncertainty. By making the scheme multi-year, organizers gain more peace and clarity about their financial basis, while the municipality can execute the process more efficiently.
Extra budget for Keti Koti
Within the available budget, the contribution to Keti Koti has been increased from €60,000 to €75,000 per year. This increase fits within Utrechts policy of unequal investment for equal opportunities and supports the further growth and professionalization of this important event.
The scheme will be evaluated in 2028. After which it will be assessed whether adjustments are needed in the setup or distribution of resources.
