The awarding of the Youth Ribbons, intended for children and youth aged 6 to 23, has become a tradition in Utrecht. The ribbons are awarded annually around the Day for the Rights of the Child.
Dennis de Vries, alderman for Youth: “Utrecht is a child rights city. This means, of course, that we pay attention to the rights of children, but also that we see what they mean for the city. I see and hear daily special stories about children and young people who lend a helping hand, put an arm around someone elses shoulder, or roll up their sleeves to make our city a little more beautiful. We reward that involvement, creativity, and empathy with a Youth Ribbon, a special token of appreciation. So do you know someone with a special story? Come on, you can register from today.”
Registration
To register a child or young person for a Youth Ribbon, you can do so via www.utrecht.nl/jeugdlintje. This form can be filled out to indicate who is being nominated for the ribbon and why, along with the contact details of the applicant. All applications will be assessed and checked against the criteria. The deadline is September 1, 2025.
Typically, it is a surprise for the children and young people who receive the Youth Ribbon. This year, the Youth Ribbons will be awarded on Friday, November 21, 2025, by alderman Dennis de Vries at the City Hall in Utrecht.
