Neighborhood by Neighborhood Working Towards a Future-Proof Network
Zwolle is growing, electrifying, and becoming more sustainable. This requires a strong and flexible electricity network that can handle peaks and accommodate developments such as electric vehicles, heat pumps, and solar energy. With the completion of Schoonhorst, Zwolle takes an important step in strengthening the balance of the grid.
The completion was celebrated on Wednesday, December 17, with a festive event in the neighborhood, attended by representatives from Enexis, Siers, and Alderman Arjan Spaans. By plugging in a connector, the process of upgrading the electricity network in Schoonhorst was symbolically concluded.
Alderman Arjan Spaans (Sustainable Urban Development): This is a wonderful milestone for Zwolle. We are strengthening the network, creating space for sustainable initiatives, and ensuring that our city can continue to grow. This is done in good cooperation with Enexis and Siers. Together, we are taking a great step in a green direction. I am proud that Schoonhorst is the first neighborhood where this becomes a reality.
Starting Point for the Rest of the City
Schoonhorst is now fully prepared for the future. In the coming years, the network in more neighborhoods in Zwolle will be strengthened and expanded by Enexis and Siers. By working neighborhood by neighborhood, the inconvenience for Zwolle residents remains limited and the work can be carried out efficiently.
