“If we separate organic waste (gft) even better, we will have less residual waste that needs to be incinerated. This reduces CO2 emissions and costs; so it is good for the planet and the wallet,” says alderman Paul Guldemond. “With this campaign, we are working step by step towards our goal of reusing more raw materials and burning less residual waste.” 

The campaign will be visible in the city in the coming weeks, through social media and local newspapers. Residents will receive practical tips to make separating organic waste at home easier. 

The municipality works closely with ROVA on this. By properly separating organic waste, it remains valuable and is processed into biogas and compost. This way, everyone in Zwolle contributes to a sustainable city where raw materials are reused instead of being lost as residual waste.
