In the plenary hall of the House of Representatives, seventy members will say farewell on Tuesday, November 11. They were either not re-elected in the October 29 elections or decided to leave the House themselves. Speaker Martin Bosma will personally address the departing members. The farewell of the members takes place during the last plenary session of the House of Representatives in its current composition. The seventy members leaving on November 11 do so for various reasons:
- 23 members indicated they would not stand for re-election;
- 47 members were not elected but were on the candidate list.
Committee for the Examination of Credentials
Before the official farewell begins, the Committee for the Examination of Credentials presents its report. This committee examined the process and determination of the election results on October 29 and verified the credentials of the newly appointed members. The committee chair, MP Ulysse Ellian (VVD), presents the report. After the report, the 150 elected members can be sworn in on Wednesday, November 12.
Draft Profile for Speaker of the House
On Tuesday, November 11, members will also establish the draft profile for the future Speaker of the House. The final profile will be adopted during the first meeting of the new House the following day.
Farewell to Departing Members
Afterwards, Speaker Bosma addresses the departing members with personal speeches. Subsequently, some members will receive royal honors.
