Each year, the House of Representatives reviews the budgets of individual ministries. Every week, one or more budgets are discussed. Next week, the budget debates for Climate and Green Growth and Education, Culture and Science are on the agenda. You can follow the debates via the Debat Direct app.
The budget discussion for Climate and Green Growth begins on Tuesday, 10 February at 6:30 PM. On Wednesday, 11 February at 11:20 AM, the budget discussion for Education, Culture and Science begins. On both days, members of parliament will present their contributions. The follow-up debates are the next day, Thursday, 12 February. For Climate and Green Growth, this starts at 10:15 AM and for Education, Culture and Science at 2:30 PM.
Schedule
The House started on Tuesday, 9 December with the budget discussion of General Affairs and the Kings budget. In the coming weeks, other budget debates are on the agenda:
- In the week of 24 February: Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature and Social Affairs and Employment;
- In the week of 3 March: Defense and Public Health, Welfare and Sport.
Elections
The aim of parliament and government is to have the national budget, presented on Budget Day, approved before 1 January. This means approval by both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Ministries can then start implementing policies in the new year. Due to the elections on 29 October, the budget debates for individual ministries will take place this time in the period December-March, after the new members have taken office.
