Elections

The aim of parliament and government is to have the national budget, presented on Budget Day, adopted before January 1. This means: treatment and approval by both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Ministries can then start implementing policy immediately in the new year. Due to the elections on October 29, the budget debates for the individual ministries will take place this time only in the period December-March, after the new members of parliament have taken office.
