Each year, the House of Representatives reviews the budgets of individual ministries. Each week, one or more budgets are discussed. This week, the budget discussions for the Ministries of the Interior and Asylum and Migration are on the agenda. You can follow the debates via the Debat Direct app.
The budget discussion for the Ministry of the Interior starts on Wednesday, 4 February at 11:10 AM. Schedule
On Tuesday, 9 December, the House began the budget discussion for General Affairs and the Kings budget. In the coming weeks, other budget debates are on the agenda:
- in the week of 10 February: Education, Culture and Science and Climate and Green Growth;
- in the week of 24 February: Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature and Social Affairs and Employment;
- in the week of 3 March: Defense and Public Health, Welfare and Sport.
Elections
The aim of parliament and government is to have the national budget, presented on Budget Day, adopted before 1 January. This means treatment and approval by both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Ministries can then start implementing policy directly in the new year. Due to the elections on 29 October, the debates on the budgets of individual ministries will take place this time only in the period December-March, after the new members of parliament have taken office.
