Would you like to see the blue seats of the House of Representatives in real life? On Saturday, April 11, the House of Representatives will open its doors from 11:00 to 16:00 for everyone.
During the open day, there are activities for children, youth, and adults. You can visit the exhibition This is the House of Representatives or The roots of the House of Representatives elections, sit in the public gallery, take a seat selfie, or go on a discovery tour. There are search routes in two themes: history and architecture and art in the Chamber building. Additionally, you can participate in various activities:
Democratic tours
Throughout the day, there are democratic tours starting from different locations. Together with your group, by democratic decision, you decide which direction to go. You learn about the House of Representatives, democracy, the building, history, and art. Chamber staff guide the tours.
Coffee and tea at the Second Table
At the Second Table, in the Statenlokaal, you can have a cup of coffee, tea, or something else with Members of Parliament and Chamber staff. A great opportunity to start a conversation, for example about what it is like to work at the House of Representatives.
Democratic quiz: Is that allowed?!
Join the quiz about laws and rules in the Netherlands. What is allowed and what is not? This way, you discover interactively why we have those laws and rules, in which situations they apply, and when they conflict.
Lecture with Jelle Brandt Corstius
What is it like to live and work in a country without democracy? And what developments do we see in countries where democracy is sliding towards dictatorship? In a special lecture, journalist and program maker Jelle Brandt Corstius tells more about this. He lived in Russia for many years. For more information or to register, go to tweedekamer.nl/kamercollege.
Childrens activities
Discover the House of Representatives with a special childrens scavenger hunt, follow the tour for children, and craft your own Chamber artwork.
