I. (Ivar) Nijhuis is appointed as the Director-General of the Government Information Service at the Ministry of General Affairs. The Council of Ministers has agreed to the proposal by Minister Uitermark of Interior and Kingdom Relations. The appointment will take effect on May 1, 2025.

Ivar Nijhuis has been serving as the Ambassadorial Advisor on Justice and Security/Asylum and Migration in the United Kingdom for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since September 2020. Previously, he was the Director of Communication at the Ministry of Justice and Security. From January 2015 to July 2016, Ivar was the Program Director for the MH17 disaster at the then Ministry of Security and Justice. Earlier, he held the position of Director of Communication at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and various communication roles at the municipality of Rotterdam, including Head of Corporate Communication for the Rotterdam Administrative Service.

This appointment was made through the procedure for the top management group of the General Administrative Service.
