Ruthsella Jansen was born in Curaçao and served as deputy director of Maduro & Curiels Bank in Curaçao until her retirement in February 2024. Previously, she held leadership positions at various government departments in Curaçao.
Ms. Jansen has held various social roles. She was honorary consul-general of Canada for Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire and was a member of the complaints advisory committee of the Common Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba.
The acting governor is appointed by Royal Decree for a term of six years.
