The minister follows the advice of the Electoral Council after discussing the feasibility of the elections with the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG) and the Dutch Association for Civil Affairs (NVVB). Both parties see October 29, 2025, as a workable date. The proposed date has also been approved by the Council of Ministers.
Minister Uitermark: “Elections are a crucial part of our democracy. I believe that everyone should be able to cast their vote as effectively as possible. I therefore discussed the advice of the Electoral Council directly with the key parties in the electoral process. The third House of Representatives election in five years requires a lot from municipalities and parties. Conversations indicate that the Electoral Council has come to the advised date very carefully. Voting on October 29 is the best date to cast your vote in the best possible way.”
With this decision, the minister also expresses the Chambers wish to organize the elections as quickly as possible, within the frameworks of feasibility, carefulness, and implementability.
