The DRIVE program helps implement infrastructure projects in low- and middle-income countries and is carried out on behalf of the ministry by Invest International. The modernization of DRIVE - which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year - fits into the cabinets strategy to combine international trade, investment, and development aid while prioritizing Dutch interests. The cabinet aims to enable more Dutch companies to participate in projects such as the construction of bridges and water systems or the building of hospitals.

State Secretary De Vries of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation: It is important that Dutch entrepreneurs become more involved in development aid projects. This offers more opportunities for Dutch entrepreneurs. This way, we combine the knowledge and experience of Dutch entrepreneurs with concrete results.

In the coming period, the cabinet will continue to work on expanding financing options for companies active in developing countries, including simplifying and speeding up procedures. We also focus on further developing tailor-made financing solutions, for example through loans on favorable terms.

CEO of Invest International Melanie Maas Geesteranus: We are pleased with this step. Only through strategic cooperation, where aid and trade go hand in hand, can we advance the earning capacity of Dutch companies. Creating a future that is richer, more resilient, and more sustainable.
