North Atlantic Council: Decisions for the Alliance
The central meeting on Wednesday, June 25, was the meeting of the North Atlantic Council. Here, NATO leaders discussed the global security situation and made decisions regarding the future course of the alliance. Topics included increasing defense spending, support for Ukraine, strengthening collective defense, and cooperation in technology and innovation.
In addition to the plenary meetings, bilateral talks took place between various countries, including the Netherlands.
Closing Press Conference and Communiqué
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte held a press conference at the end of the day to explain the outcomes of the summit. This was followed by press conferences from the Netherlands and other NATO allies. The joint communiqué was also presented.
NATO Public Forum: Discussions on Peace and Security
On this last day of the summit, the NATO Public Forum was again available online. In panels and discussions, government leaders, youth, experts, and opinion-makers talked about current issues regarding our peace and security. The sessions can be viewed again at www.natopublicforum.org.
As the summit concludes, the Netherlands reflects on two intensive days of consultation and cooperation. The Hague was focused this week on international security and the NATO alliance.
