The Netherlands sends aid supplies to flooded area in Ukraine
The Netherlands is sending aid and rescue equipment to the area in Ukraine affected by the destruction of the Kachovka dam. So far, about 20 boats, over 15 water pumps, more than 180 life jackets, and over 50 waders are being provided by Dutch water boards and the Royal Netherlands Rescue Society. Additionally, Rescue Brigade Netherlands is supplying at least 12 rescue boats (vletten). The goods are being sent to Ukraine as quickly as possible. The involved ministries and parties are still working on the transport of these goods.
Update June 11: Rescue Brigade Netherlands now supplies 22 rescue boats (vletten).
This was announced Thursday by Minister Liesje Schreinemacher for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation (BHOS). An initial estimate is that at least €500,000 is needed to finance the aid.
Minister Schreinemacher: “We are doing everything possible to help Ukraine with this as well. What happened is terrible. I am grateful to the water boards, the Royal Netherlands Rescue Society, and Rescue Brigade Netherlands for their assistance. In the coming days, we will see what more we can do for the affected area.”
