The permanent representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United Nations institutions for food and agriculture: Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), based in Rome, will be Elske Smith, currently advisor to the Prime Minister at the Ministry of General Affairs.

Diplomatic Appointment
The Council of Ministers, on the proposal of Minister Van Weel of Foreign Affairs and in coordination with Minister Wiersma of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature, has approved the appointment of a permanent representative to an international organization. The appointment will take effect from May 1, 2026.
