Dutch Contribution to Greenland Reconnaissance
Security in the Arctic region (including Greenland) is of strategic importance to all NATO allies. Therefore, the Netherlands, together with other NATO allies, is conducting a joint reconnaissance in Greenland for a military exercise in the Arctic region. The reconnaissance is led by Denmark. Defence is sending an officer from the Royal Navy.
The purpose of the reconnaissance is to map options for a joint exercise in the Arctic region. Based on the reconnaissance, the exercise will be further developed and planned.
A larger deployment within NATO framework (Arctic Sentry) is a possible next step. Discussions on this will continue within NATO in the coming period. The cabinet is positive about this.
