Modern warfare increasingly uses cyber and electromagnetic activities (CEMA). These are deployed both offensively and defensively to disrupt radar and radio communications. The new CyNOpS eliminates these vulnerabilities. This ensures improved operational security and digital power of the ships.
Faster Innovation with the Market
Developments around CEMA are progressing rapidly. Therefore, it is important that companies, knowledge institutions, and Defence collaborate and share knowledge about the latest innovations. The advantage is that existing and validated innovations from the market are used. This accelerates innovation.
TNO has been developing operational systems for Cyber & Electromagnetic warfare for years. This led to a prototype of the CyNOpS. Its successor is now specifically being developed for the navy.
“Ships and marine units get better capabilities to process digital signals,” said Commander Frank Lenssen, Director of Operations at the navy. “This way, they can protect themselves against cyber and electromagnetic threats.”
Besides the navy, the Cyber Innovation Hub (CIH) is also involved in the development from Defence. The CIH collaborates with the market on proven scalable solutions for Defence.
