The PURL support packages contain resources urgently needed by Ukraine that cannot be delivered in any other way. Think, for example, of equipment and missiles for air defense, but also F-16 ammunition and unmanned systems.

Minister Ruben Brekelmans: “This weekend marked yet another tragic low point in the Russian terror campaign through the air. Ukraine urgently needs more military support to defend itself against these air attacks and to get through the harsh winter. With this €250 million support via PURL, the Netherlands makes a substantial contribution.

Peace negotiations must not distract from fully and massively supporting Ukraine, the minister continues. “It is of great importance to keep the pressure on Russia high. Both through diplomatic and economic channels, and through military deliveries to Ukraine. This strengthens Ukraine’s position at the negotiating table. With this new contribution, the Netherlands once again shows that our support continues unabated. It is crucial that all European allies continue to contribute. After all, it concerns the safety of all of us.”

Previous support package

Earlier this year, the Netherlands was the first NATO partner to donate a full PURL support package to Ukraine. Since then, various other allies have also made their contributions.
