With Deep Precision Strike (DPS) weapons, it is possible to precisely attack well-protected targets deep in enemy territory. The weapons can find and neutralize targets even without navigation aids such as GPS.
The Joint Target Support Centre processes detailed information about military targets. Furthermore, the centre plans and coordinates the routes of the weapons to their targets. This is done in close coordination with others in the deployment area. The airspace must be free of aircraft. It also takes into account the mobility of the target and its environment. All this information requires coordination to prevent accidents or other unwanted effects in the mission area.
The JTSC is staffed by personnel from across the armed forces. This is done to combine and maximize specific knowledge from each domain in the deployment of Dutch (long-range) weapons.
