The agency De Kiesmannen and the Atlantic Commission developed an interactive vocational education program. They will be traveling across the country in the coming months. In total, the creators will visit more than 100 schools. The program is funded by the Ministry of Defence.
Why is the Netherlands hosting the NATO summit this year? What does international security mean for daily life? During the program, students are invited to think about such questions. In Boxmeer, they discussed these topics with De Kiesmannen and Major General Wilfred Rietdijk. There were questions about the role of America within NATO and the generals motivation to work at Defence.
After Nijmegen, the NATO tour through the Netherlands will also visit Groningen, Eindhoven, Utrecht, and The Hague in the coming months. Another component of the tour is a serious gaming e-sports tournament by Defence. There is also a mobile photo exhibition about NATO from Foreign Affairs. Additionally, a theater tour and educational programs from the Atlantic Commission are part of this. These are intended for secondary and vocational schools. Clingendael and The Hague Centre of Strategic Studies (HCSS) contribute with research and debate.
Other parties contributing include the Haagsch College, Young Atlantici, and the Kid Correspondent. Furthermore, The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) and Veteran for the Class are part of the tour. Universities, colleges, and several municipalities are also participating.
