After the NATO summit in June in The Hague, agreements were made about necessary, substantial investments in our security and independence. Therefore, the cabinet is taking additional measures to make entrepreneurs resilient. The campaign that starts today aims to raise entrepreneurs awareness of economic security risks.
Minister Karremans (Economic Affairs): “Whoever gains access to our technology also increases influence and power. We cannot afford for Dutch knowledge to leak and be actively used against us. Not for our jobs and income, and certainly not for our security. Therefore, it is crucial that entrepreneurs take action regarding their economic security. This campaign helps them protect their knowledge and technology.”
Protect What Makes You Strong
The campaign targets knowledge-intensive companies, often possessing valuable knowledge and information. Such as unique technology, smart processes, personnel, customer data, or strategic insights. The campaign Protect What Makes You Strong consists of:
- The EV action plan: helps companies identify their most important technology, knowledge, processes, and data and how to protect them.
- The EV scan: an in-depth analysis that quickly provides entrepreneurs insight into which measures can strengthen their company the most.
- MakeYourBusinessResilient.nl: a central website with practical tools, guidelines, and reliable information.
- Entrepreneurs Desk for Economic Security: in addition to the ministry, there are now also physical support points for entrepreneurs for questions and practical advice. The first two advice points are at Brainport Eindhoven and the TU Delft Campus.
Minister Karremans (Economic Affairs) launched the campaign today during his visit to knowledge-intensive startups in Delft. The minister visited Lobster Robotics, which develops autonomous underwater drones for, among others, Defense to map the seabed in detail, and CIWI, which creates innovative technology for water purification.
Continuing to Take Steps
The urgency for companies to become resilient against threats to economic security is increasing in the coming years. An economically secure Netherlands is essential for maintaining our prosperity, future growth, and national security. The cabinet will continue to take steps with concrete support for entrepreneurs, expanding legislation, and intensifying international cooperation. This way, we strengthen the resilience of our companies and our country.
