The monthly publication of the (available) expenditure and revenue realizations follows from the report of the Expert Group on Realistic Budgeting. Earlier this year, they made ten recommendations to improve insight into the state of public finances. One of those recommendations was to inform Members of Parliament and citizens more frequently and better about the realizations on the budget on both the expenditure and revenue sides. The revenue overview also includes the most current estimate per tax type, both monthly and annually.
This publication is a first step. The government will continue to expand and improve the presentation of realization figures on rijksfinancien.nl. Recently, this has already been done with data and visualizations of fiscal schemes and the blue booklet (an overview of the Dutch economy and public finances in graphs and tables, published annually with the Budget Memorandum).
