State Secretary Thierry Aartsen (Public Transport and Environment): “We are achieving significant results thanks to a combination of smart investments, collaboration with regions and market parties, and the use of data to place charging points exactly where they are most needed. We are actively addressing the locations where there are currently no charging points, so that everyone in the Netherlands can easily drive electric. Through these investments, both individuals and entrepreneurs can charge easily, quickly, and reliably everywhere; an essential part of the transition to electric driving.”
Clarity about rates
Also in the area of price transparency, steps have been taken; a task force has been established to standardize pricing poles at fast charging stations, so that everyone can easily see before the charging session how much a charging session costs and how this price is determined. As a result, charging prices will soon be as transparent as fuel prices.
Investments in future-proof connections and subsidies
To enable fast and reliable charging for trucks on the go, the ministry is investing €65.5 million in the construction of power connections at service areas along highways, so that entrepreneurs with electric trucks can always fast charge along the road in the future. In addition, more than €96 million in subsidies has been made available for the construction of charging infrastructure in logistics and construction, sectors that play an important role in making mobility more sustainable. Companies can apply for support for public or private charging solutions, making it easier for them to transition to electric driving.
For the successful rollout of the charging network, governments, companies, grid operators, and knowledge institutions are working together in a coordinated manner in the National Agenda Charging Infrastructure.
