Mr. Gerrits will be part of the criminal law section. At this moment, he is a judge at the District Court of Central Netherlands. There, he is also part of the criminal law section. Previously, he worked as a lawyer.
The Common Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba administers justice on the islands. The judges at the Common Court of Justice handle civil cases, criminal cases, and administrative law cases (including tax cases), both in first instance and on appeal. The Common Court is also involved in special judicial colleges (such as for civil servant cases) and in colleges responsible for disciplinary law. The Court consists of judges in local service and seconded judges.
