The appointments of Mr. Wouters and Mr. Lautenbach will take effect on the date of signing the Royal Decree. Mr. Wouters is a senior judge at the Rotterdam court. He has previously served as vice president and member of the Joint Court of Justice and as judge and vice president of the courts in Dordrecht and ’s Hertogenbosch. Mr. Lautenbach works as a counselor at the Court of Appeal in The Hague. She has previously served two terms as a judge at the Joint Court, was a lecturer in Civil Procedural Law at Utrecht University, and a judge at the courts in The Hague, Leeuwarden, and Overijssel. Mr. van Vuure is currently a criminal judge at the Joint Court of Justice. Previously, he was a judge at the courts in Overijssel and Central Netherlands and a Public Prosecutor. Mr. van Vuure will be appointed as of November 1, 2025. Deputy members have no fixed place of work and are deployed where and when needed in a trial.
Mr. Brinkenberg will be appointed as a substitute judge as soon as possible. Substitute judges are called upon to replace judges in case of absence of permanent judges, for example due to illness. Mr. Brinkenberg is a judge in training in tax law. She is appointed as a substitute judge to gain experience in tax cases.
The Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba administers justice on the islands. Judges at the Joint Court of Justice handle civil cases, criminal cases, and administrative law cases (including tax cases), both at first instance and on appeal. The Joint Court is also involved in special courts (such as for civil servant cases) and disciplinary courts. The Court consists of judges in local service and deployed judges.
